Psychosexual Therapy

Psychosexual, or Sex Therapy, is a different and specific way of working, with a mix of CBT and Integrative therapies, delivered by a qualified specialist professional. It is a focussed approach, designed to work specifically with problems related to sex and sexuality, with individuals or couples.

You might have identified a sexual issue that you are looking for help with, or be looking for ways to enjoy your body and your partner's body more (to explore ways to increase sexual satisfaction for yourself or in your relationship), or there may be something difficult in your behaviour or thinking or behaviour around the subject of sex (in theory or practice), pleasure and desire, or your body.

My experience in this area covers working with sexual dysfunction, compulsive sexual behaviours, sexuality and sexual identity disturbance, body dysmorphia and a range of issues related to body image and sex, and sexual trauma (recovery from sexual abuse, rape, and sexual assault), life stage related issues, and non-monogamous relationships.

Psychosexual therapy is a sex-positive and GSRD-positive (Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity) approach. It can be directive and involve reflective and practical exercises designed to help increase awareness, acceptance, comfort, and pleasure, either solo or partnered.

Some elements of Psychosexual work can be integrated in the therapeutic journey in couples work and with individuals, however, if you are interested in solely focussing in this area, please mention this in your enquiry. The work can be time-limited (a set number of sessions) or open ended for a deeper exploration.
